Having him as an AU on a card or two is a great start, along with a good talk about finances and credit. Another possibility is opening a bank account at Chase or a similar bank that offers products he may want in the future.

+1
I added both of my daughters as AU on 2 or 3 cards and it helped.
When he has income and a need, get him a secured card that graduates.
Stay away from "joint accounts" and "secured that never graduate".
One of my daughters first CC was a secured and the other had income and score high enough to go straight into a regular card. I believe that a few years AU history helped.
Great afternoon!! My Oldest Son is a Sophmore in College and we literally just went to the Discover site to see if he would be Pre Approved for The Discover Chrome Student Card, and He got Pre Approved, even though Pre approved does'nt mean approved but at least he is 1 step closer. he says wants to think about it, he is 19 years old, I totally agree with starting our kids early teaching them about the importance of Credit. I also told him if he starts now, by the time he is 21 years old his credit will be Good. hopes this helped.

For my daughters they were both above Fico 790 after 1 year real card and 3-4 years AU.
My Daughter is 10 years old and I already have her on my CO QuickSilver as an AU I’m just waiting for her to turn 13 (2 more years) so that I can put her on my AMEX ED (CL $10,000) I want her to have the best advantage when she becomes an Adult. My mother never explained to me how important Credit was so I messed up in my late Teens early 20’s and finally started rebuilding in 2016 at age 27 but better late than never. So Kudos to you Mom you’re doing the right thing☺️
