Back in Februray I the Samsung S20 was available for a preorder/trade in offer. United Mileage Plus had an offer available for 9x miles that particular day with Samsung. I was working late at the office (this was back in February) and didn't start to put my order in until 11:30 PM. By the time I had all the options selected and had a confirmation from Samsung it was already 12:10 PM.
Instantly I was worried that I was going to lose out on the 9x. I tried to go back through the 9x offer from the previous day and it was now showing up as 3x. About a month had passed and I hadn't received any shopping portal bonus at all so I contacted Mileage Plus with a missing miles report. I stated that I should be eligible for 9x but I did make this purchase with the my Samsung store card instead of buying it outright. Mileage Plus was able to confirm that I was indeed elgible for the 9x regardless of processing times so that was good on my behalf. Peroidically I received updates from Mileage plus as they were waiting merchant resolution.
Finally after 3 full months of waiting I received that 9x resolution from MileagePlus (7335 miles). I received another 7335 United Miles from Samsung directly so instead of 9x I was able to score 18x on that Samsung S20 purchase!
After disappointing attempts to pick up miles from merchants (particularly British Airways Avios) this feels good to finally get these United Miles. Finally its time to update my signature on my point totals which I've been waiting to do pending award of these miles.
