What to do with login credentials no longer needed?

I have login credentials for Capital One because I used to have a GM credit card with them, but now the credit card account is managed by Marcus/GS. I have no other accounts with Capital One. Is there anything I should do before contacting Cap 1 to ask that this "account" be deleted? I figured it would have been deleted after the credit card account was officially transfered, so I'm surprised to see that I can still log in.

No you should not do anything with your "login credentials". Take them to your grave.

I don't need login credentials (username, password) for Cap 1 since I have no accounts with the bank. Any reason I shouldn't ask for the login ability to be deleted?

Does it show the old account as closed? Or is there just no account anymore when you login?

Cap1 offers their Creditwise service, so they're likely not set to automatically delete your account if you don't have any active cards with them. You'll probably have to contact them directly to get them to delete your account/login if they will do so.

Once I got pass the Plat and QS1 with 3 other cards. It took over a year for them to remove them from my page. Might be they left it for now in case you need to look something up from the past. Even Disco left my old closed Chrome for 3 yrs. Not hurting anything.

Plus if they keep buying other banks/programs like they have been lately, they'll probably backdoor you on a few cards eventually and you'll be right back. I've never had a minutes interest in CapOne and BOOM, 3 cards with them... well 2 now, and I'll be chopping another one of them shortly.

If you do keep it open, it would be a very good idea to activate 2-factor authentication (if available) and change the password to a long, strong password that's not used by any of your other accounts. You're less likely to quickly notice any suspicious activity if you're no longer using the account regularly, and if it ever is hacked, you don't want hackers to use the password to access your other accounts.

This is a good point. Capital One doesn't provide any MFA that I can find. I am very likely to call or email and request that this login information be deleted. I can always recreate it in the event that I open an new Cap 1 account. Thanks.
