Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and I'm trying to figure out which myFICO product I need to purchase. I really want whatever is going to help me the most. I'm about a year out of a chapter 7 and now I'm on a crusade to fix my credit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.![]()
Welcome to the forums!
If you are in the process of fixing your credit and want to know your scores from time to time, then I recommend two things. First, I'd suggest FICO® Standard. This is a one-time only report pull at $20/per report or $40 for both TU and EQ (it's impossible to buy your EX FICO from anywhere, though your lender and a couple of CUs out there can give it to you). Armed with the info from these reports, you can get an idea of what hurts your FICO the most and what helps the most as well as see which TLs are hurting your score. You can also get a baseline by which to track your progress.
Because of the price, and because these pulls are one-time only, and because you'd want to track changes to your report, then I recommend subscribing to a CMS. Look at the CMS GUide found stickied in this board. These are services you can subscribe to at a much lower cost and in some cases see updated reports every single day, depending if you subscribe to such a product. As you see changes to your report (e.g. dropped baddie, added acct, etc.), then come back to my FICO and FICO Standard and pull a new report if you want to see the FICO impact. Note that these services via the CMSs out there offer scores, but they are not FICO scores. Ignore the scores and advice.
Doing it this way is more efficient (IMO) and more cost-saving. If you find yourself pulling your FICO scores more than a couple times per month, then consider subscribing to Quarterly Monitoring. While that product is for TU only, you do get 20% off all future TU and EQ FICO reports.
