Who absorbed my dispute?

I was at a conveinience store this week and paid with my Chase card. Their printer was "broken" and when the charge appeared in my account, it was for $0.50 too much (the register and card reader displayed the correct amount). I disputed it in my account and they said it'll be credited.

Obviously for $0.50 it's not worth the time of a Chase CSR to even look at it, but who absorbed it? Chase? Visa? Or did it get pulled back from the merchant?

Disputes are paid by merchants. Other protections/insurances are paid by issuer/visamc/insurance company

For $0.50 I would think that it is either your issuer or the merchant. Most likely the merchant eventually. Issuers are in the loyalty game and for some small payout they will sometimes cut their short term income to get long term profit. The catch is that they are watching for abuse. Do not abuse the dispute system. Most issuers will also do what they can to minimize losses so the merchant might have had two quarters pulled from their income. If the issuer stated that they will research then that guarantees they are talking with the merchant and the acquirer. If they just credit the small amount then they are definitely taking it out of their short term revenue to please you.

Fortunately, this is the first time I've had to make a dispute in almost two years having the card.
