I received an alert about a inquiry today, I thought nothing of it at first because I had just bought a new car. But when I reviewed it, the company had a really wierd name and there was no other info about it. I tried a google search but nothing came up. I have already filed a dispute with the credit agency.
Does anyone reconize the name 164AN25034?
It does, but the name just sounds wierd plus a Google search usually will bring up who it is.
Sounds like it might be a good idea to ask the dealership who it is. I am going to go out on a limb and say they were like any other dealer and held you for most of the day so there is probably only a single place to ask. Worst case scenario they picked any lender they had in their Rolodex to ask and one or more was a real cheapskate.

I recommend keeping disputes for your last resort -- after you have had a chance to talk with the creditor with whom the problem likely originated. In this case you had good reason to believe the problem originated with the car dealership shotgunning your financing request to a bunch of lenders.
People who dispute things that promptly come back verified (as will happen with the dispute of almost any inquiry) run the risk of being tagged by the CRA as a consumer who engages in what they call frivolous disputes.
Do you have any debts that are currently delinquent?
If so, are any of them medical debts?
It could be a meducal provider or a debt collector who has either assigned collection authority, or has purchased a delinquent debt.
The FCRA bars furnishers who are reporting medical debt from using any name that discloses the nature of medical services provided, such as "ABC Oncology", so they will sometimes use code numbers to avoid any possible violation of the prohibited disclosure of medically related information.
I did not notice that... thanks!
Are there two different guys here with the OldMan handle?

Well, you certainly are the younger oldman and a more prolific poster.
