anyone know what this inquiry might be. Emsbbt

My son in law checked his credit today and saw this inquiry from 07/31/2016 but does not recognize it.

It says

emsbbt and underneath says "this inquiry could be related to a creditor or employer"

He doesn't remember applying for anything recently and has been at the same job for 5 years.   Anyone know what this could be for.

Did he have any recent medical/EMS treatment?

Does he do any trading?  EMS is used in the financial world, short for Bloomberg Execution Management System.  And BBT commonly is used for Bloomberg Bond Trader.  Others will probably know of other possibilities.

Teo may have hit upon the source.

There is a rare but permissible purpose that permits a potential investor to obtain consumer credit reports for valuation or assessment of the repayment risks associated with the credit obligations of consumers.

FCRA 604(a)(3)(E) states that a party has permissible purpose if it

"intends to use the information, as a potential investor or servicer, or current insurer, in connection with a valuation of, or an assessment of the credit or prepayment risks associated with, an existing credit obligation;"
