cap. one advertisement emails despite previously unsubscribing

I received Cap One advertisement emails and unsubscribed after I got a few. I followed their "unsubscribe" link and entered my email address. My submission was followed by a response that said that I had successfully unsubscribed. That was about a month ago.

Today, I get yet another email. I followed the link again and unsubscribed for the second or third time.

This is annoying and infringes upon my privacy. I feel like I am spammed. Cap. One is not the only one doing this. I've had issues before with Delta (the airline, not the  credit card) and Discover and, if I remember correctly, a few other sites (paypal, methinks).

Is this just due to a computer "glitch" that these companies keep spamming you with their advertisement? Or does it take weeks before the changes go into effect? If that is so, I do not accept this as a valid excuse. The changes that I submit are instant, and it should take a few days at the most to update their servers.

I feel like I am a target rather than a respected customer.I don't want to participate in Cap One's Black Friday deals. That's why I unsubscribed. Other than that, they are ok. Having said that, I use the card for approx. $200 in charges and pay them off at the end of the month. It's also one of the few World Mastercards around that reports the credit limit. Hence, I don't dislike the card per se.

I am not talking about the general opt-out program. Months ago, I opted out of receiving general offers of credit. I am talking about being a customer of a specific company and being targeted despite explicitly opting out through THEIR website.

Well generally there is a lag of between 2-4 weeks for some reason when you unsubscribe.  Hopefully the you wont see any more.

If you have and use their card, you will probably get "messages and communications" from them.  Some companies have a way to opt-out of electronic communications but then your statement and anything else will also be mailed to you.  However, that can be "changed" when they update back to the email option so you might have to do it more than once.

If you never bother with your statement (like me), then just have a filter set up that puts all their stuff into a separate folder...makes life easier.

Irrational and selfish response.

I receive e-mail on a mobile device and pay for each KB of data transfer.  There is no justification for making me pay for unsolicited garbage you want to send me.

Didn't you see the wink? It had an humorous twist to it. Anyways, I'd recommend an unlimited data plan to you, sometimes is even cheaper and you don't worry about each kb you receive...

Play nice, please. If you disagree with someone's opinion, it is, in fact, possible to say so in a civil manner without relying on insults.

Happy Thanksgiving.
