help old account

So i have been getting really weird phone calls on my phone from an unknown number.  I answered and it is some law office stating they are trying to collect a debt of mine from 2005.  The compnay is CMA ( a magazine compnay)  I do remember the company but it was from like 2003.  I 'm not sure how they got my nunmer but they said they were willing to settle.  I asked why they are trying to contact me for something that is from 2005??  i told them I was unfamiliar with the this collection and asked them to fax me info.  They gave me an old address of mine which i haven't lived there in 5 years!  They agreed to fax .. but i never got the fax.  They just called me again on tues and said the same thing.  I told them  I never received the fax and tehy stated they would mail me info on the matter.  I asked again why I was just being contacted again about something from 2005 and why I haven't been contacted until now.  This ghetto woman said she didn't know but she was just rying to settle the debt. This collection doesn't show on my credit report.  what do i do??? i am familiar with the compnay they are calling about. do i just pay???  I just don't understand why they are contacting me now.  They have all old info on me.  I'm sure this account was sold or something.  HELP!

Re: help old account

Make sure you check your sol in your state because they can't make you pay this if the sol has ran out but if you feel you owe it that is something you have to work out personally with yourself.

Re: help old account

#1) don't talk to them on the phone except to verify your mailing address, and tell them everything HAS to come through the mail.

#2) Send them a DV letter.

SOL in Oh  is 6 - 10 years.

Never talk to a CA  never give any info.to anyone and never admit to a debt!!!!!!!

When they call again  ask for their name address.........send then a DV  CMRRR

Read this & make all changes where needed   do NOT sign it  just type your name.
