I'll agree with your statement. I meant "goodwill" as in the executives taking time to just fix the problem without all the hassle, not admitting any fault or wrongdoing. I find that humble requests tend to go a lot further than pointing the finger at their mistake. Although, that's not to say that the mistake shouldn't be mentioned, obviously.
