Drove by our lot today and they have started to clear away the rocks and such to get ready for the foundation/piping! Was very exciting, can't wait until actual construction starts, it's scheduled for Feb. 11th.
Think Mike is feeling like a kid again waiting for Christmas! lol
Its a great experience enjoy it...
Yup it is soooooo much fun.
I just got back from looking at our home this morning, brick and drywall is done and they were getting the walls ready for texture.
They boys picked out their bedrooms!! I think they are gonna fight over it lol.
Next the wood floors go in and they will put in the kitchen.
Kids fighting over rooms, I remember those days.
Our first home purchase years ago, was a nightmare as far as the rooms for kids. The difference in size was incredibly different. Thank goodness we outgrew that home quickly.
From that experience, we never bought another standing home. We always built to what worked for us. So to make it easier all kid rooms were the same exact dimensions, with same exact features installed.
While that was a small hurdle that overcome some fighting between the rooms, we ran into the next stage of fighting of where the room was located in the house. Who wanted the front side, who wanted the back side, who wanted to be closer to mom and dad, well you get the idea....
All I can say now is thank goodness we dont have those concerns any longer. lol
I'm loving how communicative our builder is! Just got an email today from the Field Manager introducing himself and letting me know that the layout for our house is scheduled for late next week. I'm assuming "layout" means where they place the foundation concrete forms on the lot in the shape of the house, like I've seen done with other homes under construction?
Yeah it is an outline of where your foundation will go.
After that is done, they will trench it out and start on the plumming.
Here is our home when we hit that stage.
Whoa that's a lot of land, where does your lot end? Very flat too, where's the hills?
Our lot looked like this on Friday when I stopped by, you can see where they have already cleared away the rocks in preparation for the foundation.
Our lot is 8200 sq ft, house is 2892 single story.
Its only a 10,000 SQ FT lot, most of the land behind us will be commercial
Here is the pic I took today, its a 2 story 3200 SQ FT.
Time to do the inside.
Wow that looks freaking great! That's a big lot too, especially with the house being 2 stories, the footprint is only 1600 sq ft so that leaves you with a lot of land surrounding the house.
Mike, where are you building? Congrats by the way, I find this part the fun stage!
