Hello, I have an old collection from 2009 that enhanced recovery decided to place on my credit report but it makes it look as though the delinquency just happened. will this stop me from obtaining a mortgage in October? I'm not happy:-( Thanks!
What date does it say "account opened"?
Well, Equifax does not state a "date opened" it just has a "Date assigned" of Dec 2013 but Experian has the "Date opened as June 2009 with a fall of year of 2015. I don't know why Equifax does not have a date opened on the report.
When your credit is checked for a mortgage, it's pulled in tri-merge format, which merges all 3 bureaus data together into 1 report. So this account will show assigned date of Dec. 2013 (is that when it was originally assigned to Enhanced Recovery?) but the "Date Opened" is typically when underwriters consider that account to initially be sent to collections. To be safe, a letter of explanation from you explaining the history of that account should be provided so the underwriter will know it's an old collection.
Yes, that's the date it was originally assigned to Enhanced Recovery. Thanks for explaining this to me. I'm hoping i can work with them to delete since it was so long ago, and i really don't have any knowledge of this account.
