Re: DR Horton home buyers club

1st, I would rather pick up my own lumber, hammer, and nails than build with DR Horton. Just sayin'.

That said, I certainly wouldn't sign up for anything to do with credit repair from anyone.  I was looking at a local builder who offered the services of someone to assist with that, but I came here instead and got much better results doing it myself.  NO ONE cares about your credit more than you do.  You are invested in the process and the results. I am VERY proud to look at the scores in my signature and know that I did it on my own with LOTS of good information from MyFICO's contributers.  Reducing utilization is something you can do all by yourself, the rest you can work on with free help from here.

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

Whats wrong with DR Horton? I currently have a new construction build with them and it wasn't so bad. The LO stays in pretty constant contact and so far nothing has been outrageous, outside of just waiting (which apprently everyone goes through) I'm not in their repair program but overall nothing to complain about.

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

I thought about doing this. You essentially have to apply for a mortgage with DHI (their mortgage company). Once you apply they will look at your scores and if they feel that you would benefit from the services of the Club, they will refer you to a credit specialist to help you bring your scores up. They work with you for a year.

I decided against it because I did not want the unnecessary inquiry. In addition, you are not guaranteed to be referred to the club. Not to mention I was not sure if I really wanted to build a DR Horton home (it was one of my choices but not the only choice). I wanted to keep my options open.

You can probably do everything that they would do yourself. Just visit the Rebuilding board and search the Community for topics related to your situation.

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

The service is free, they're using the same credit report the lender saw, so it was just the one inquiry..our guy we've been working with is great and has been in constant contact with us. We chose this subdivision so our daughter will be in a neighborhood with kids, instead of out in the middle of nowhere, like we are now.l.just wondering if anyone else had used them and what their experiences were..the paperwork also states we can go with any lender we choose, but their incentives are what's making us decide to go with them..hoping it all turns out well!

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

J, I didn't use their credit service, but we are closing this Thursday on a house with DR Horton. Just had our final walk-through last week. I have to say that it has been an excellent experience! Everyone from our salesperson, our DHI LO, the construction superintendent, etc. has been absolutely wonderful! My husband is a "Holmes on Homes" addict, and he has watched every step of the construction like a hawk, and we're very pleased. The house is beautiful, and everyone has been helpful. I suppose there's good and bad experiences with every company, but ours is a happy one! Smiley Happy

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

Agreed @Birdwriter

My experience has been smooth throughout. I thought the sales person was very knowledgeable about the house what what it would appraise for based on extras. I just got my approval w/conditions today and luckily my LO asked for 90% of the stuff before submitting to UW so it appears as if its smooth sailing. The only real issue i had was everyone not being on the same page as far as closing. But it was sorted out and emails have been constant and courteous.

Re: DR Horton home buyers club

I used them and think very highly of them.  It's dhi mortgage home buyers club.  Basically, they can run a score simulator on your fico scores and help you get a game plan to raise your scores.  They can also give you needed information on how to get things deleted ect.  They will check your score alot.  But if they continue to do this all within a 30 day period, it only counts as one inquiry.  My score only went down a few points and it was well worth it because with their help, it jumped 30 points in 30 days.
