I mishandled a bank account a few years back and was reported to chexsystem. Wondering if anyone knows if banks pull that report for mortgage loans. Ever since that happened I was able to open a bank account with another bank for the last two years and hace never had a bounced check or overdrawn my account. Need to know before I get all happy about getting a house.
I really don't think they do...is that old acct closed now? As long as you are good on your current checking account you should be okay now (not alot of NSFs or overdrafts in past 6 months) and that old bad acct is not the one you are going to use for your downpayment money.
We moved banks some time back and missed one bill on auto debit. The old bank paid it, and took their sweet time letting us know. As a result they reported this as "account abuse" to chexsystems. We closed without issue.
