@bobvette What blinds you got for $1800? Our builder wants 2.5K for blinds and I can probably get 2” fauxwood blinds for about $500 for a 3 bedroom house.
We did 2" faux wood blinds from Global Blinds here in Atlanta, all custom made and installed, even had like 7-10 colors to pick from. We did 31 of our 40 windows, no way we could have afforded real wood, would have been $10,000 probably.

I started the post to give me an idea of what I needed in my home, what to expect, and how much I need to save, there are always wants, but then there are needs for a home. I forgot about the lawn mower, etc. If you don't keep you lawn mowed, prepared for HOA. I wanted to make sure I am ready and not getting in too deep.
bump
I forgot about blinds and curtains. I don't plan on paying that much for blinds. Regular plastic blinds is sufficient enough for me. 4 dollars at walmart.
Don't forget about utilities, some have installation charges and one may incur cancellation charges on current services.
I have home security and just found out it will cost me $1000 to cancel as I have 2 years left of contract. They offered a buyoff at $585. I asked them to transfer to new location but they do not offer service there so I am stuck paying a hefty cancellation fee.
The home security system on the new home has an installation of approx 300 (but you can have 3 installments).
These are some costs to be considered when buying/selling.
That is kind of expensive for home security.

I was thinking the same thing....
I purchased a home with a system already installed, now I have to find someone to monitor it. Still checking prices and my insurance only gave me two weeks to send them in the certificate for the discount. It seems there are not enough hours in the day to register kids in school, arrange for new mail delivery and of course the 5 hour UVerse install!
Another thing most people don't think about is the expense of the moving truck. I moved 33 miles over a 3 day period and it was 325.00 w/coupon. Then of course add to that all the packing supplies, gas, lunch for helpers and so on. I believe all told, it ran me aprox 600. And don't plan on cooking for a day or so because it's just too hectic. I budgeted aprox 800 for the move and it came in very close.
Home security runs about 40-45 a month. The installation, depending who you go with, can range from 99-300. The whole contract for 3 years is what bothers me.
My current home security is 45 a month, but because I have 2 years and 4 months left on contract, They want a payoff of 1/2 of what is still owed and they quoted approx 500-600
