Paid collections with USDA loans

I currently have 4 items showing unpaid on my credit report.  3 of them reported over a year ago and the last one of them was a $77 medical bill that reported about 4 months ago.  If I pay these and they show as paid will they prevent me from getting a USDA loan?

You should try to do a PFD. Paying a collection can bring it forward and actually hurt you.

Re: Paid collections with USDA loans

Does that mean pay for delete? I have heard I should only pay the ones that are recent. Is that correct and what is the age that I should not pay? And is it hard to get a collector to agree to delete in return for payment, and should I attempt to settle for delete or offer to pay full amount for delete?
