Is it possible to get a pre-approval from one leander to make an offer on a house, but still shop for a better rate and possibly go with a different lender?
Yes.
Yes, and I have been researching how hard pulls affect your credit score- if the lenders' inquiries are made within a short period of time (i.e., if you are preapproved through two different lenders within a 2 or 3 week period), the hard inquiries will only count as 1 hit on your score instead of separate ones. You may want to research it to determine the exact amount of time you have. I think it was a couple weeks.
