Tax Deadline

IF my mortgage goes through this year, what is the "deadline" that I'm reading about to get the tax credit for both the interest, and possibly the penalty-free 10K withdrawal from the 401K?

I guess I also want to know, at what point in 2011 should I give up and wait until 2012?

Hi, Shane.  I read it on here in one of the posts.  IDK what it said exactly.  Are you saying that there is not a deadline in the year, then?  That someone can buy a house in Oct/Nov and still write off the interest?  THANK U

I have not heard of any deadlines for mortgage interest deductions or penalties for using a 401k to purchase a home.  Although I am not the foremost expert on tax advice.
