I can't believe this. Our USDA loan specialist usually gets into the office at 7am, so I just called & it's a good thing I listened to her voicemail because she's taking this entire week off! Now I'm scrambling to get in touch with the area director (he's training her & working on our file with her) because it's been 17 calendar days since she submitted our request for an appraisal & as I mentioned before, the handbook (Ch. 5, section 5.14) states in-house appraisals are to be completed within 7 calendar days. We're supposed to close 2 weeks from today but the smart money says that's not happening. As long as we're out of this apartment by July 1st, we'll be fine, but we could extend our stay if we had to. 

 

I'm off to stalk down the director now, but he probably doesn't get in until 9 knowing my luck.
