We were referred to this guy because he is a specialist with VA loans using bad credit - my husband's. I have pretty good credit thanks to this forum. Smiley Happy

I guess I'm just confused because I was told my earnest money would be coming back to me, and now it's going to be potentially used as a collection payment? <= if the underwriter decide that you pay it.....  like i said, va does not require. some banks do though

Re: VA loan in underwriting - how to satisfy possible baddie?

So here's an update:

Appraisal is ordered so we can get a place in line. We know it will be a minimum of a week for them to get out there, allowing time to complete inspections.

IRS Doc is ordered, we wont know for a week if the resolution works but hope its ok.

File will be prepped for processing and submission.

I was informed that the VA appraisal timeframe to schedule is 1-4 weeks. Smiley Surprised

The initial income and credit review is expected Monday, which should generate the conditions we need to meet for the VA to issue me a loan approval.

However, now I've been told that the VA appraisal could potentially push the closing date out, which was already 45 days, due to the complexity of the file (I'm self-employed and have been for 10 years, unsure how this is complicated?). Now they're telling me most likely will need to ask for an extension.

Is this normal? I feel like I've been told conflicting things since day one. And whenever I try to ask for more information, I get my head bitten off - very touchy.

Just keep in mind that not all appraisers are "VA" appraisers and the time frame may be because of a heavy work load. There is only 1 VA appraiser for the county I live in and because he couldn't get out to us for our final inspection in time our closing got pushed out by 2 weeks.

Definitely not the case here; there are a lot of VA-certified appraisers.

I guess I'm just befuddled; I've never dealt with a loan officer who is so touchy. I try to avoid asking him questions and direct to his assistant instead. He keeps giving me the worst case scenarios for everything - I get that he wants to cover his butt but does he have to be such a jerk about it?

We've been in process for nearly two months now - and we haven't even gotten the VA appraisal done yet.
