Any day traders here? Or anyone that invests as their main source of income?

Just seeing how many people here do this and if their would be any interest in a thread where we could have market talk and share trade ideas, P&L, etc..

Ive traded just about everything and finally found what works for me and thats day trading options. I've been scalping in beteween patients at work but have thought maybe later this year taking the leap to do it full time.

Probably like a number of others, I play a little here and there.

I'm interested in the day-to-day movments of the market though I'm not much into short-term trading on most of that movement. I fall well into the buy-and-hold camp of traders.

It won't replace my main source of income until I decide to retire, but the occasional sale plus the dividends do add a respectable contribution to the bottom line each year.

And I'm more of an instant satisfaction kinda guy. How you invest is way less stressful for sure lol

I was doing great on my longs for a bit there, almost nailing every top and bottom but the market hasn't been respecting traditional TA so that's why I'm getting in and getting out.

Any recommendations on brokers compatible with Metatrader4? I've been stagnant with trading as my original broker made changes that weren't compatible with Metatrader4.

I use a hybrid approach, a combination of buy-and-hold, dividend capture on blue chips, reinvest dividend payouts into the closest ex-date, and sell covered calls deep OTM.

Re: Any day traders here? Or anyone that invests as their main source of income?

I have a small business but would say that my income is derrived from a mix of my business inventory and investments.

Stock trading is something I have been doing for myself for roughly thirty years now.

While I make a fair number of trades each year and watch things closely I would say that the vast majority of my stocks are now in retirement accounts and my focus is on the long term.

I am sure some people make money day trading but for me the longer time frame I have the more comfortable  buying a stock when I know I don't have a short fuse forcing me to sell and take a loss.

Having a small business and playing with zero percent credit cards means always having to rob Peter to pay Paul so in the last couple years I have found myself having to sell at times when I would have prefered not to but day trading is jus not for me.

I admit that I wish I was more of an investor or swing trader, but the instant satisfaction of gains makes me happy. A lot to be said about my character lol and I'm learning how to deal with every loss a lot better. Im through reading a stack of books on psychology with a lot more to read in my spare time.

My girlfriend is very supportive of me trying to trade full time which is helpful. I was hoping to make this decision by years end
