I actually laughed out loud on this one!
I am a member of 5 CUs
1. PenFed. I like it because it is the only lender I can find that will do a HELOC on an investment property
2. Small CU in Colorado. I have a card for emergency balance carrying needs, APR is currently 6.25%, no BT or cash advance fee, can directly transfer to savings/checking
3. Premier Members Credit Union. Have it for the money market account and auto loan
4. Patelco Credit Union. Opened a few months ago for the money market account and a back up lender if I need another low APR card
5. NFCU. Only opened as a backup in case I need a really low/no downpayment option on a mortgage (doubt I will go this route now).
I just closed out my DCU, I originally opened it to stash 1k and build a relationship. What drove me crazy is how hard they are to get ahold of, and the processing times. From starting the savigns account, to applying for a car loan. Everytime I called it was an hour wait. The UI is lackluster too, deff did not like the website nor the app.
I only have two banks now
NFCU - I started banking with NFCU last year and boy have they earned my "biz". And really thanks to this site for the raving reviews, never would have happend.
and a Local Austin bank.

What makes them special (Cards, Car loans, Banking)
Im already a member of Alliant, PenFed, and NFCU. My BECU app is pending as well and I plan to join DCU.
What good ones am I missing? I'm in PA and I'm a first responder if those matter for membership.
I really like BECU for the following:
1). Decent no strings attached interest rate on first $500 in checking and savings accounts. I keep $1,000 in there and withdraw extra interest every month to my Ally bank account.
2). Completely free overdraft from PLOC to checking. Again, if I am out of money, on my debit card, I can overdraft for completely free. Their PLOC is 10.00% APR so it's not bad.
3). No foregin transaction fee on their debit card. They offer foreign ATM refund up to $6.00. Again, it is nice to carry BECU debit card as a back up when traveling whether internationally or within United States just for that.
4). And lastly few more little things. Great mobile support. So I can easilly access everything I need either from a mobile app or from iOS safari. Always great customer service. And lastly 1 buisness day money transfer. Which is huge for something like me who is not very patient.
I keep thinking about opening DCU just for the 6% savings. But honestly I don't find that credit union worth using for anything else.
I had PenFed. I was not happy with them.
I had LMCU. I closed them because of fees.
I had First Tech. They were decent but they didn't offer anything special
I had PSECU. I just closed them to trim down and again they didn't offer anything special.
I had SDFCU. I closed them right after opening account with them due to their lack of professionalism.
I had FKFCU. I closed them after 1.5 years because they didn't offer anyting special for me.
I had Alliant. I closed them after they handled my money in unprofessional way.

Thanks Green, I have PenFed but don't use them.
Im going to go with DCU because they actually have better auto rates than BECU and NFCU and the 6% is nice.
Im also considering Redstone for the APY. PSECU also has some decent rates on loans.
I just got into BECU last week and am looking forward to working with them as I've heard so many fantastic things about them.
Here are my favorite credit unions:
SCSCU. They are a small geo restricted CU that has helped with my rebuild since my bankruptcy. I have the lowest rate Visa at 8.99% with them and lowest PLOC with them. They run promotions for credit card purchases at rates as low as 6.9%. I personally like the ACH feature they have to move money and it's free. Their financial advisors have helped create plans that work to save money and increase my wealth. Excellent customer service.
Navy Federal. They have high CL's on their cards. Their CD rates are excellent! They have the best website and app. Their customer service sets the standard for CU's and banks!
SDFCU. They have been good to me. I get automatic CLI's regularly and their Visa is the second lowest APR I have. I get the lowest preapproval offers with them. Also their customer service may not be at the level of other CU's, I have to admit that they do everything the say and I don't have to follow up on them. Also moving money in and out of this CU is easy.
BECU and Redstone FCU. I'm still too new to these CU's to access them fully. So far I'm impressed with their customer service, website/apps, and how they handled my transactions so far.
I am a member of other CU's. If they aren't listed, their aren't among my favorites and I only use them to park money or just obtained a credit card or two for rebuilding.

Are DCU and Redstone sensitive to Chex/new accounts? I joined BECU and have these two left, I have no other new bank accounts so it would only be these 3. I know that isn't a ton of new deposit accounts by the standards here but for most people it would be quite a few.

Redstone FCU 5.09% APY on savings up to $2,500savings account similar to DCU???????
Well @AllZero and @Gmood1 , It looks like Redstone wants to play now!

Neither seemed sensitive to Chex inqs IME.
Ok cool, I didn't realize you were having issues applying for membership online?
I thought you already got your membership, before they stopped accepting them online last week?

Gmood, Redstone isn't accepting online membership apps anymore?
