It's just my hubby and myself here now. But our eldest daughter comes over all the time with out granddaughter. She likes to rummage through everything to look for goodies!
My mom passed away last Nov. and my dad is by himself, which he prefers. And has alzheimers. So we go there almost everyday and he wants to cook for us and I think it's a good way to keep him busy. I always clean up for him and we fix whatever he needs fixed.
So our grocery bill has dropped a bit.
Just stuff for our 2 cats, stapples, not many snacks, and stuff for others.
Not counting out to eat, about 250-300 per month now. I buy cleaning products when they're bogo's. Along with other staples. And then there's Sam's Club.
I feel for you. I was there. Those kids eat a lot!!!

Last month was the first every month that we spent more on groceries than on eating out. Weu weu!!!
We also started using Real Plans (a meal planning program) and doing a great job of using up the stuff we have at home.
Starting this month, our budget is $800 and we are making it a goal not to spend more than $700. We buy organic and free range foods. The food budget covers EVERYTHING. So I want to go to the movies, it comes out of the food budget. If I need toilet paper, it comes out of the food budget.
The other thing we do is pay cash for food and put the coin in a jar. Once a month I deposit the coin into the bank. Usually goes onto a bill (right now we are paying down two cc's.) I deposit anywhere from $12-26 in coin a month. Not bad.
Eating out for us is tough. If we go out to eat, we waiver between grabbing fast food on the road becuase we are traveling to sit down, cloth napkin, service. We are definitely out less for pleasure. The amount of eating out for work (which is reimbursed) varies. Those funds go on a bill.
Start tracking...$800-900 to me seems reasonable for two people, quality food. We use to spend $1k a month for 2 people. And back in 2008, we use to spend $300 a month for a teenager, DH, and me. We ate a LOT of rice, beans, and cheap veggies! This was before food prices went sky high. And back in 1994, I was spending $30 a month to feed two people. We were hungry a LOT back then, never ate out, and our home serving sizes were much smaller than kids serving sizes now!
Wow! Seems like your food budget has fluctuated quite significantly over the years. I recall my food budget being around 50 bucks a week when I first got married back in 1995. How on the world did you manage to feed 2 people on 30 bucks a month? That's incredible!
Very interesting replies. I found it amazing How Some families are able to be on the low end of the spectrum, such as $75 a month per person, while others, such as myself are on the high end- $200 a month per person. While still others are even higher than that, $350 a month per person. A lot of "food" for thought, no pun intended!
I do have to figure out a way to reduce my eating out for lunch expenses. A few replied that they rarely eat out...
Hmmm... Maybe I will start a new thread seeking advice on this subject??

Pack your lunch! 
I'm a huge advocate, lol. I never have time in the morning so my best advice is pack it the night before and try to make it something you really want to eat (your favorite foods) and throw in a little treat. I've never been one for takeout that much but I find bringing lunch saves a lot of money. Depending on where you live/work, lunch can add up! My last job was in a downtown area so it was minimum $10 for lunch (not including a drink, I'm talking about just a sandwich or salad with chips). I can pack my lunch for much less!!
To answer the original topic, I probably spend $50-60 a week on food groceries (more if you're counting other household non-food items). It's only me and my husband but we go through laundry detergent like nobody's business. *scratches head*
