NFCU - Now that you are in, are you using it??

Im curious to know how the new members that used the NLSD method to get in, are using their new memberships.

I personally have checking/savings going.  No credit products as of yet, but that will come soon.  From what I can piece together from all the threads, it looks like its all over the board.  Lets here some HAPPY stories of new opportunities for buying the things you want or need with this membership.

Im sure some are going for a new car, or a new home...  Or just the bragging rights that come with a $25k limit cash rewards card.  Lol.

Re: NFCU - Now that you are in, are you using it??

I personally have moved the majority of my banking to NFCU as my fiance is an active member there as well. I have checking and savings both with direct deposit, as well as the 3% 12-month CD special that I am contributing to regularly. I am still deciding between applying for a CashRewards vs. a Flagship, but I will have one of them within the next few months. I would have financed my new SUV through them, but I got 0% from the manufacturer's captive lender. Fast forward two or so years and they will most likely be who gets our mortgage business, but I will have BB&T compete as well due to my relationship with them. Overall I am very please so far

Re: NFCU - Now that you are in, are you using it??

I am a very happy and greatful member. NFCU has been a godsend in my rebuild journey and they have shown me plenty of love in my post BK discharge life. Car Loan, Cash Rewards Visa, CD's and savings have all been exceptional.  For some reason they would not approve a NavCheck LOC but I quit trying after I first joined as I didnt want the HP's to stack up.  I'm guessing with almost 2 years of perfect history with them now they would approve it but I'm in the Garden and I don't need it anyway.  NFCU is definetly my bank for life Smiley Wink

I got in with NFCU and couldnt be happier! I have checking, savings, cash rewards visa with a 1k limit and a CLOC with a 500 limit. I moved my direct deposit and bill pay to them. Im paying down my cc balances so I can app for a personal loan with them probably around may. Overall Im thrilled to be in the door with them and I know they are a bank for life.

YoureWelcome,

Before I start, I want to thank you for taking the time to post the info about the Navy League. It's been 4 years since I had my bankruptcy, I was always wanting to join NFCU.  I joined inside the branch, armed with everything I needed to join and pass verification.

I opened a checking account, savings account, cash rewards Visa, and a CLOC. My Visa was the largest credit card without having to recon. I was surprised that both were approved while I was still in the branch. I plan on opening a CD this weekend. I'm planning on building a new house or do a major remodel in 2018. I hope to use NFCU or

PENFED for that loan. I plan on using both CU's for life!

Finally, I am proud to have joined the Navy League, their are an excellent organization. As a matter of fact, I joined PENFED after joining NFCU and was approved for a Navy League affinity Promise Visa.

Thanks again!

Life's a beach!

Re: NFCU - Now that you are in, are you using it??

I was going to make NFCU be my CC payment hub, but since the CLOC they gave me is so tiny I can't use it for now. Sucks because PenFed gave me a 15k PLOC but it doesn't seem they have any way to tie it to checking as overdraft so I can't use them as a payment hub either.

Going to just bide my time for a bit until NFCU will bump the CLOC up to 15k, then I can use them Smiley Happy

So happy to be a member! Also love being a member of the NLUS and plan to donate every year. I have the GoRewards card 25k and the CLOC 15k. Looking forward to a great relationship!

+1. CashRewards, CLOC, Checking and Savings here. Have used the Cash Rewards card about ten times but no immediate plans to use the CLOC as I have a PLOC at a much lower rate with my other credit union.

Enjoying the cash back benefits of Cash Rewards thus far. Smiley Happy

I use the NFCU checking and savings, but my primary checking and savings will remain at my regular bank.

I've ordered Navchecks just so I may have them in reserve. Have also ordered regular checks for my checking account, and Visa Debit card.

I've canceled the CUCARD as it is just a basic ATM card and my Visa Debit card can serve the same functions.

Several bumps in the road initially with accounts being frozen (not the way to treat a new member who provided everything you requested), but things are going well now and Navy Federal reps are really friendly and helpful any time I call with a question. Glad to be in the Navy! Smiley Happy

Re: NFCU - Now that you are in, are you using it??

I joined with the sole purpose of a big fat CL.  I wasn't really planning to use them for much else.  But now that I have been looking at their First Time Homebuyer program with zero down and no PMI...we are seriously looking at moving most of our banking their way so that we have an established relationship next year when we look to purchase.  That program has a higher interest rate, not surprisingly, but even the conventional 5% down doesn't have any PMI.  With a Jumbo loan in our future that is a big chunk of DTI to not worry about!

Been a member for almost two years and have checking and savings and cash rewards but don't use them. Might switch to them in the future but with all the horror stories it is hard to trust them
