Hello All,
Didn't know where to post this as there is no section for personal loans.
I am looking to consolidate a few things (me and wife). I may need a cosigner due to the amount of student loan debt and to get the best rate, but my question is. I can have my wife co-sign (800's across all 3, me high 600's), but she is not a NFCU member as I am. How would I go about applying for a personal loan through NFCU with me as a member and she is not?
Already pre-approved for 40K with Lending Club with her as a co-signer, but rate is too high (20%). Just wanted to check my alternatives.
Thanks!

Does she need to join first or do I apply for the loan through my account online first?
I'm not certain that she would need to join in order to cosign for you... that's a question for Navy.
...not to be a downer, but the BEST personal loan rates at NFCU are at 15%... have you considered other credit unions?
Also, check out UNIFY credit union and PenFed. Both have lower rates than NFCU.
Good luck!

I do have PenFed, but do you know what are the requirements for UNIFY? I don't see anything about membership eligibility on their website.
Thanks!

Unify is open to every one. Probably I paid some nominal fee to join some charitable organization, or was a member of American Consumer Council.
You can join Unify with $25 donation to Friends of Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area or Surfrider Foundation.
