How do you become a member of the navy without knowing someone
There used to be a loophole to join NFCU without military affiliation but it's closed now. You must a member of the armed forces or an family member of one (parent, grandparent, etc.) to join.
I assume you mean how do you become a member of the Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU), and not the Navy itself. Heh.
I believe you can find yourself a roommate in the military and get in that way.
I got in through that loophole - Navy League of San Diego -- before they shut it down. I had been away from here for some time, but I thought I read that when they closed that loophole, they changed membership so that it's like USAA -- you just need a family member who is a vet, not currently serving or a retired lifer. Is this true? That makes it so much easier to find a connection if they can just have served but not career.

Correct... But I believe they have to be a direct family member (meaning your children, your direct siblings or your parents/grandparents). I'm not sure you can use your cousins or uncles.
