I've used payday loans two or three times during some really hard times and have been lucky enough to not get caught in the cycle trap, but it's certainly not too difficult for that to happen with the insane interest rates they charge.
There's a reason you generally only find these places in low-income neighborhoods and on shady-looking websites. They clearly prey on the weak, desperate, and uneducated.
