Bad news for those of us getting checks... According to CNET, they're not being mailed until May 15th!

What is weird is they're mailing those debit cards on March 22nd... I will be really annoyed if I get a debit card instead of a check.

@Anonymous FYI, that was actually poor editing and has been corrected.

First paper checks sent Week of March 15

It's now been a week since the relief bill was signed into law, but I'm still getting "Payment Status - Not Available" with the IRS tool. Is anybody else getting that message?

My circumstances and info haven't changed for 10 years. My only income is Social Security, which is direct-deposited to my checking account every month, no problems.

Check #1 - IRS message said it would be mailed, but it was direct-deposited a few days later.

Check #2 - IRS message again said it would be mailed. Paper check arrived in my mailbox 4 weeks later.

Check #3 - ??

My message says that they have have my DD info, and they will update me with a payment date. But still no payment. I think I might have delayed it, by filing my 2020 taxes exactly one week before this stimulus was signed. But I could be wrong. My first 2 checks were DD, on time with everyone else.

RESPONSE

It's a miracle!! I just tried the link expecting the same old nothing info as per usual. Guess what? Payment date specified via dd to account Social Security is deposited. I can't believe it!

I have a screenshot possibly for framing. lol

Previous payments were via USPS. There was no way to add dd info. I tried many times.

Not going into things we don't talk about here but change is good. Smiley Happy

Great news for you -- Congratulations! Smiley Happy

Question: when entering SS# should one use the dashes (000-00-0000) or numbers only (000000000)? Both methods seem to "work."

Yes I saw that way early this morning but I was in the middle of a panic attack so I didn't get to post it (I just woke up). It also says that they are planning to send all of the SSDI recipients via direct deposit this time so I guess we will see how it happens.

I guess I gotta update my budget. Now I don't feel like buying my new Xbox Series X should have waited. This is now the second time I didn't know when I was getting my stimulus and made a big purchase and found out I was getting it shortly the next day. Smiley Happy

I do it without dashes. I use the slashes in the date though.

Yes, they finally figured things out! Been checking the IRS tool for a week with "no information" but yesterday they said my payment will be direct deposited on 3/24 into my BoA account where I receive my Social Security Retirement payment. Hooray! I got my first payment by check, 2nd paymentt by debit card, which really ticked me off. Yeah, never look a gift horse in the mouth but I hate those pre-paid debit cards, if you use them to pay for purchases it's all but impossible to drain them down to the last dollar, and I use reward credit cards for purchases. So I went to my local bank branch and got them to do a $600 cash advance on it and then deposit it into my checking account.

Re: Stimulus Checks Going Out

@DaveInAZ , I received the first two as checks via USPS. The first stimulus payment arrived when all bank lobbies were closed in this state. It took a few to be able to deposit. The second was mailed during the USPS late/lost mail period.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the dd for SS retirement benefit account would be used. Lost mail is the biggest concern.

I'm with you on prepaid cards. Why if the payee is banked?
