You have a dispute comment that should have been removed after the investigation was done.  Contact them and ask them to remove the comments.

HI,

I was on another site and read that disputes must be done within 30 day's, is this correct?  I have two items on my EQ report that were disputed years ago that still show 'disputed by consumer'.

"Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Section § 611 (a) (5), CRA have 30 days to investigate disputes. If they cannot verify the information within the 30 day time period, they must delete all of the disputed accounts from a report." - TRUE???

Also on this, yes, they have 30 days to verify, unless the dispute was made through the free reports from www.annualcreditreport.com ,  then they have 45 days.  I have no idea why.

If they do not verify the information, the CRA must exclude the information from your CR.

I would like to see how it's worded.  What does it say?

Typically it would say something like.  Account disputed, investigation completed, consumer disagrees.

"Consumer disputes this account information"

Two say the same thing from two different account's. Both from same CA but not the same creditor.

Re: 30 day's for a dispute resolution?

(A) In general. If the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the agency directly of such dispute, the agency shall reinvestigate free of charge and record the current status of the disputed information, or delete the item from the file in accordance with paragraph (5), before the end of the 30-day period beginning on the date on which the agency receives the notice of the dispute from the consumer."

I am confused, I understand this to mean that the agency shall "reinvestigate" meaning they have time to reinvestigate after the 30 day period " OR" delete the item, no where does it say that they " MUST" delete the item. This statement is very misleading. Can someone clear this up for me?

By the way this is my first reply, I'm so excited! In the last two months I've become a credit repair addict. Love these forums

also, if you DVed the creditor in the past, it will show as disputed by consumer. The creditor is required to leave that on the Tradeline as long as they report

A DV is under the FDCPA and has to do with the debt and not the reporting of the debt.

Disputes under FCRA are the only ones that should be on a CR.
