599 want to get to 720 ASAP, then eventually over 800 - How Long?

(NOTE TO MODERATOR:  If I'm posting this incorrectly, please don't delete it.  I spent quite some time putting it together. Send me a message first.  Thanks)

I used to have around $24K in credit card debt.  I've been working on bringing it down steadily and now I see the light at the end of the tunnel ($0 balance in about 2 years from now).

I used to have a 720, but since the economic downturn, it got as low as 550.  Now, I'm at 599 (Equifax) as of today (7/29/13).

Q1 - How long will it take me to get to 720?

Score (Equifax): 599 (Not Good)

Payment history - Not Good

Re: 599 want to get to 720 ASAP, then eventually over 800 - How Long?

Almost impossible to say. With recent 90 day lates, those weigh heavy. Since utilization is 30%, get that around 9%. After getting the past due cc brought current, try to get those lates removed. Otherwise it is tough. We have a 90 day late almost two years ago. One ca remaining and 20% util. Recently hit 659.

From the research I have done, 720 may take about two years, ymmv. The gurus shd b around to give you more advice! Good luck!

Re: 599 want to get to 720 ASAP, then eventually over 800 - How Long?

Im kinda of in a similar situation my fico scores back in may were eq 532 ex 528 tu 568 now my fico scores are ex-628 eq-628 tu-595 with 1 baddie and 2inqs on ex. Wats holding my score back is my payment history last june till dec i rack up lates on my cap 1 card stupid me.

It seem like i cant do anything anymore to instantly boost my score anymore or try to gw and get the late payments remove or just continue to pay the card and let the late payments age as each month now hit a year for that last late payment seems like i get a couple of points boost..

So what im basically saying if you can get alot of those late payments gw remove you'll see a boost or just patience and time wat everybody seem to hate with paying ya cards on time and letting them age

Re: 599 want to get to 720 ASAP, then eventually over 800 - How Long?

I started at that point in 2010. It is now middle of 2013 and I have reached your goal score. Now, my issue was lates and one large charge off. Once I PIF the charge off they removed it from my CR. The other issue was that i had very limited credit history. So, with removing most of the lates and the charge off, I am good now. If you can get your baddies removed and you have a good AAoA you should be quicker than I was.

Good luck to you!

Re: 599 want to get to 720 ASAP, then eventually over 800 - How Long?

None of those accounts appear to have been sent to collections or charged off, which is a good thing.

They only have lates.  Those lates will be removed 7 years from their occurence and when the last one comes off the account will turn positive again and stay for up to 10 years from the date closed.

All of the accounts are included in your AAoA.  Removing the one from 1997 would severely impact your AAoA.  Just leave it and let the lates age off.

The one that has the 120 day late does have a 90 day late.  It looks like it was in Dec 2006.

Your utilization plays a huge factor in your score.  Open and closed accounts with balances are included in utilization.  Getting that paid down significantly will be the fast way to get a bump in score.

The recent lates are also having a big impact on your score.  30 and 60 day lates stop hurting after about a year and after 2 years don't hurt at all.  Anything 90+ days is a major derogatory and will impact you for 7 years.  I would write some GW letters seeing if they would at least remove the most recent lates.
