Advice on How and When to apply

I am just 2 months out of discharge from my bk, not that I want to jump back into the fire, but when should I apply for a new cc to improve my credit score. right now I am at 591 & 572, I keep seeing offers for Capital One, but they were included in my bk. I don't want a bunch of hits on my credit report, so I am afraid of being declined. I had several of the cc that are good for people with bad credit (thats how I started out after my divorce, ended up with to much good credit and had to file bankruptcy) I am wondering if that is why I haven't gotten any offers for new credit cards. Even though Cap 1 was included in your BR give the prequal a shot and see what happens. If you get an offer back I've seen that they are pretty solid.
