Hello all,
I've been a long-time lurker and I'm a first-time poster. I'm hoping you all can help figure out if Cap 1 granted me a goodwill adjustment or not.
I emailed them asking for goodwill for two paid-in-full charged-off credit cards from 2017 this past Tuesday. They called on Friday and left a voice mail asking me to return her call. When I called back using the extension she gave, it was a different person. I said I was looking for (name) that left me the message. I was advised that I had the wrong extension and to try again. I called again making sure it was the right ext and to my surprise, it was still not the person that called me. I chuckled and explained why I was calling. He said he knew the person I was looking for but they were in a higher office and put me on hold for about a minute. When he returned he asked some basic verification questions (maybe took 30 seconds) and said that's all they needed, told me to have a good day, and ended the call. I have no idea what to do now and would be appreciative of any feedback on this?
I would take a wait and see approach. They got your email and contacted you about it, and that's a good sign. I'd give them at least 30 days, then follow-up with a very polite email asking if there is anything else they need from you to make the good will deletion happen, if there's no movement in either direction.
They may update a few lates. But removing a CO probably wont happen. If it did. It would be one of the longest threads in history here with PM me how you did it or whats the number. Servers would crash. Good Luck either way. Least it showed you paid your debts. Congrats!
I have experience dealing with Cap 1 on CO's and missed payments. The fact they called means they received your email and they were just verifying it was you that actually sent the email. Typically I see a call back from them in 1-3 days after verifying its me. Usually, they say they don't participate in pay for delete or earlier removal but I know people have had success with it from time to time. I just keep trying every 3 months hoping for different results. My first late with this account was Aug 2018 and the first reporting CO was Jan 2019 still haven't been able to get a win with them yet.
