My husband has a collection account from Amex in the amount of $295. This was a corporate card that he turned expense reports in for. He had booked a seminar before getting another job and he cancelled the seminar through the company's automated system. Fast forward 3 years later and he sees this on his credit and disputes it since he has never had an Amex card in his name. It comes back as valid and he finally discovers what it is. He just got done chasing this with the company, but they were less than helpful, so he is stuck with it.
Question, should we pay it? We want to purchase a new home soon and would like to get rid of this bad mark on his credit. Any ideas as to best course of action?
