Thank you so much for the info.  One more question:  The account that I had which was turned over to LVNV still has a balance due of 400.00.  Should I pay them first and THEN send the letter to the BBB?  Or contact the OC and try to pay?  Send the letter to the BBB first?  I do owe the money to somebody.  What do you recommend as to the order of doing things?  Thank you again for your help.

My situation was different.  I had no prior contact with LVNV before they placed information on my CR's.  I didn't know who the OC was or if it was even my debt and kept adding a new neg TL each month adding interest.  I filed the complaint with the BBB as to them listing themselves as a factoring company not a CA.  They putting KD's on my report each month.  Have they sent you a Dunning notice?  If yes have you filed a DV in a timely manner?  If you know the OC you could try contacting them and seeing if they can pull the account back from LVNV offer a PFD.  Make sure if you are able to do that OC sends notice to LVNV to remove the TL from all CRB's.  I would not pay LVNV directly unless the OC can not pull the account back.  Then I would only offer PFD.  The BBB complaint should only be used if they are attempting to collect improperly or are failing to DV.  I am no expert in these matters but that is my thought on it.  If you have any other questions feel free to PM me, I check the pages often.

Re: Another LVNV success

Hello if you could send me what you sent also!  I submitted a complaint to the BBB with them reporting as a factoring company and not receiving a dunning notice before they reported it but I just got the response that the way they are reporting is correct.  If you could send me what you sent, I'm going to reject it back!

Thanks!!

Re: Another LVNV success

I filed the same complaint with the BBB also and lvnv responded stating that my GW letter that I sent them 2 months ago said I validated the account. If the letter validated then wouldn't paying them validate it as well? I don't understand. The originally date is sept 12 2005 so doesn't tht mean it should fall off this month? I feel like they r just toying with me because they can. One of my credit reports says it'll fall off in feb 2013. But wouldn't fall off this month? This month will make it 7 years old...

Re: Another LVNV success

Tradelines can stay on your credit report for up to 7 years 180 days (7.5 yrs) from DoFD.. Therefore the feb 2013 is legit unfortunately...

Obviously that's not what I wanted to hear, but thank you for the clarification on that. I appreciate it.

Very true, it really could be worse.

I think the main reason I wanted this one off so badly is for the boost of confidence that there may actually be hope my credit.  I have 4 other paid collections not counting this one. One is scheduled to fall off in Dec 2013 and the rest in 2014 & 2015. I haven't had much success with GW letters. Only one resulted in a removal, but it was a medical account which I've noticed is the easiest to be removed.

I'm kicking myself for not knowing about PFD's before I paid everything off. Now my only hope is GW letters. I just hate getting the "request is denied" in the mail time and time again. It's discouraging.
