My little sis has completed her DMP....she's now got a good job and is ready to get some credit.
She has 3 small cards, 300, 500, 700, au on a card 3500. VicSec, and a couple of other shopping cart cards, all 0 owed
Some of the DMP cards were paid off 2 years early.
Will NFCU open again?
TNX!
I'm currently on a DMP and was approved instantly for a Cap1 unsecured card with a $2000 limit. Which I am holding at a 0% util until my DMP is paid.
Cap1 wasn't part of my DMP, however, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Not a DMP - however this may be useful - a few months ago I was going to join NFCU under the "household member" rule. However, our roommate has several outstanding loans/CCs/etc with Navy Fed. We were told that if he paid off the outstanding debts (im talking from 5+ years ago) that his memer status would be re-activted, I would be eligible to join, and he would be eligible for credit products from them again.
Wife had put us on a DMP years ago. Absolutely the worst possible thing we could have done. They're the reason I had so much to clean up after.
Shogun, interested to hear your experience with a DMP...
My story with a DMP?
Lost my job when the company I worked for shut their doors. Wife contacted Chase who advised a DMP program to sign up with. We did, then our credit went in a downward spiral. Accounts that were in good standing now had CAs calling us, all our accounts were closed. People weren't getting paid even though we were making our payments like clockwork.
When we finally contacted the DMP about this and asked where the money was going, they cancelled us. I got a much better job, so had the means to pay everyone, but the damage was done. We decided to buy a new house, but was in no condition score wise to do so. That's when I started scouring the net and found myFICO. With my OCD and the help I got here I managed to get the house and kept at the CR cleaning process.
That is why, in my eyes at least, there are certain "Real Life Superheroes" that I've found on the forums. Persons like guiness56, llecs, haulingupthescore, marinevietvet, RobertEG, Midnightvoice and others. I stay here helping others to try and "Pay it forward".
Wow. Very inspiring...and SCARY. I couldn't be more grateful for finding these forums and learning from real life experiences of everyone here. It's comforting and motivating to know that you're not the only one giong through this. Wish I'd found them 2 years ago!
Glad I did find them 2 years ago!!!!
Has it taken you 2 years to go from your starting score to current score?
I've had good luck getting CA's removed, lowing util and adding credit to my mix in the last 3 months, but my FICO is at a stand still. It started at 556 and hasn't gone higher than 561. I know it's only been a couple of months (and a couple things haven't updated yet) but I'm getting ansy! :-)
Yes, took me a couple years.
