Re: Any way to get a quick boost?

I had the same problem with secured cards. My husband and I each have a secured card, and we are new to rebuilding credit too!

I used to charge it almost all the way with gas/food items, then pay it off completely when the statement came and since our score went up (we had a LONG way to go) I thought I was doing the best I could. Last month after reading through the boards and posting about this myself I paid off everything but $20 (on a $300 card) before the statement came out, then paid the statement and the score did go up about 5 points. Nothing else changed on our resports so I'm hoping that's what it was. Smiley Happy

Good luck!

Re: Any way to get a quick boost?

I'm hoping to see some sort of positive outcome by getting my util% down to 7%.  I PIF each month, but usually was near max, as the CL are low on the two cards, prior to a CLI request recently.

So I made sure to pay two of them to $0 and I have $100 bal on a$1500 CL.

We'll see!

5/2012: 560 credit scores across the board
12/2014: 750+
3/2017: 780+
11/2019: 833
2/2023: Experian via Chase United Explorer CC pull - 891
