Anyone have experience getting a student loan account removed?

I had an account with the dept of edu in MD that went into collections. After having my taxes intercepted twice, the balance is 0. Has anyone has experience getting this type of account deleted?

She said 2010 was the delinqueny so it would not fall off until 2017
