Wow, I'm shocked. I just applied for a NFCU cash rewards Visa and was approved. I was hoping for a $1000 credit limit, and was shocked that they approved me for $5000. So now I will have the Capital One Secured with a $601 limit which I got a year ago and now the NFCU Visa. I am planning on applying for the BOA secured next August and then I think I'm done with credit cards for a while. I got a letter last week saying they were going to raise my Capital One to $701 which I was also pleasantly surprised at because I didn't think they gave increases on a secured card. I am going to increase my security deposit to make it a $1000 limit. This gives me hope that I can get my auto loan refinanced through NFCU in November when I planned on trying to get it refinanced somewhere for a lower interest rate.
Congrats !! NFCU really is the best, they give fantastic limits !!
Congrats! What are your baddies?

Actually there are quite a few...I think they pulled TU as that is what they pulled when I opened an account there a few months ago. I have 5 charged off credit cards and 12 collections of which 9 are medical--all except 1 are not paid.
As the days go by I see NFCU be more and more lenient, I think they are reading the forum in secret and love all the accalades
Congrats again and treat NFCU right and they will treat you right.
What APR did they give you?

Yes, I plan to. I also just recently did a direct rollover of a partial lump sum of my teacher retirement to their IRA as their rates were better there too. It said prime plus 13.4 whatever that means.
That should come out around 16-17% depending on what the prime rate is.
Do NOT get another secured card.
You have a PRIME card now. Garden it. Treat it well. Now when you go apply for another PRIME card in the future, they are much more likely to at least match your 5k CL.
How long did you have your NFCU secured? I have had mine since Febuary and have paid on time every month. I would love for it to graduate; I figured wait until I had it a year.

I did not have an NFCU secured. All I had was a Capital One secured that I opened in August 2011. I just opened an account at NFCU a couple of months ago and was wanting to wait until now to apply for a credit card since it had been a year since I got the Capital One secured. I figured if they denied me for an unsecured credit card that I would apply for the secured.
