Balance Transfer Question

Hello All,

I have  searched the forum for this answer but have not been able to find a post that could answer my question. My wife has an Amex card that was closed years ago and they keep offering her the program to either pay in full and regain Membership with the Optima Card or settle for less. As of this post  Amex still has the account. My wife has pretty good credit now so she was asking me if it was possible for her to just open a new card and do a balance transfer for her Amex. Is this possible?

I think this would work, assuming that you direct the BT funds to the correct address / account# at AMEX.

Another option would be to do a balance transfer to yourself ( i.e. checking account ) and then remit the funds to AMEX.
