Hey Everyone,
I've visited these forums a few times in the past, but I finally decided to contribute since the goodwill letters posts on here have been extremely helpful to me over the past few days. Last Thursday, I got an email saying I was 30 days delinquent on my Bank of America credit card payment.
Once the late payment showed up on my credit last Saturday, I called in and a CSR filed some sort of request/dispute to have it removed. Sunday night, I also sent the following email to Bank of America's CEO and one other C-suite person I could find:
Hello Mr. Moynihan, I have been a customer with Bank of America since 2017 (when I was 16).
Over the past few years, I have enjoyed the customer service and financial products you provide.
Also, I'm proud to say I became a preferred rewards gold member last year. Recently, I discovered that my credit card account is marked as 30 days delinquent.
This came as shock to me as I typically pay any bills I know that are due.
Once I noticed this issue, I immediately paid the entire balance off to prevent this from happening again.
However, the credit bureaus received notification about the late payment.
So, I'm writing you today in hopes that you can make a goodwill adjustment. I realize that making payments on time is extremely important, and I typically pay any bills I have on time.
This past month, I missed a payment due date because I had recently moved, and my billing statements arrived at my old address. As a result, I didn't realize I was behind until I got a notification from my credit monitor. I say this not to justify the payment being late, but to explain that this single mistake is not a good indicator of my creditworthiness. As a recent college graduate and loyal Bank of America customer, I'm hoping that you will consider making an adjustment because of this one-time mistake.
Over the past four years, I have worked diligently to ensure my credit and finances are in order, and I just don't want this singular incident to hinder me well into my 20's. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule to read my email.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. Sincerely,
WanderingBear

Yesterday, a Bank of America employee called me and left a voicemail. I was able to get in touch with her today, and she told me she would be removing the late payment.
I want to thank everyone on here for providing a bunch of info about the GW letter process, as I wouldn't know anything about the process if it wasn't for these forums.
Also, here are some additional data points about my situation in case it might help anyone else:
Credit Length: 4 years 1 month.
Credit Score Before Late Payment: 731 (Experian VantageScore 3.0)
Credit Score After Late Payment: 620 (Experian VantageScore 3.0)
Previous Late Payments: 0
Also, I'm a Bank of America Preferred Rewards Gold member. I'm not sure if this helped influence their decision, but I thought it might be worth mentioning
Go play Powerball. This just doesnt happen hardly at all.. Congrats!
Thanks! Lol yeah, I still can't believe it myself. After reading a lot of the Bank of America gw letter threads, I was fully expecting to hear, "Unfortunately, we must report correct and accurate information."
I'm still going to have my fingers crossed until the letter arrives in the mail though.
Grats!
