I settled for less with Barclay's 6 months ago. They haven't updated my reports at all and I've had no success in reaching them via email or phone.
I mailed a dispute with a letter explaining they're paid, with a copy of my bank payment AND the letter from Barclays saying I've settled and owe no money.
Experian closed my dispute, says its being reported correctly. So, I called them gave them the report number and info. The guy verified they received my letter and attachments but its not their role to read and make a determination from my paperwork? They only have an obligation to send the dispute to the creditor and whatever they say goes(paraphrasing)...
Now what can I do to get this updated correctly?
File a complaint with the CFPB.
File a complaint with CFPB. Include the paperwork you have.
Explain your difficulty in getting resolution from Barclays, and agency doesn't feel it's their job to report accurate info on your report.
Thanks Is!
Is it an online complaint or do I mail my info to CFPB?
You can file online, or call and file complaint.

THANKS! I was rather stunned the rep said that especially because I wasn't asking him to take my word for it, I submitted the payoff agreement on Barclays letterhead that had all the info verifying the account and their contact info. ??
I’m dealing with a similar situation with Barclays did you ever get this resolved
Had same issue with Barclays couple of years ago..seems bc's attitude needs to be more consumer friendly... even if you paid /settled the late/ charge off account for less than full..got a lawyer to contact their counsel...issue gone .. cfpb should get this cleared
7774x thank you for sharing. Can you possibly DM your lawyers contact info? I have struggled to find lawyers willing to get involved over such small disputes and this is a huge issue for me as it's impacting my mortgage that's in process.
