If Cap One is suing (i.e., identified as the plaintiff), they own the debt.  They would not have been able to sue if they no longer owned the debt, as their civil complaint must have asserted chain of title to the debt being sued upon.

 

If you investigate, you will find that any debt collector who has contacted you was only assigned collection authority, and was not the owner.

Their dunning notice will have identified Cap One as the owner.
