Breakthrough with Capital One And Now Apple Card, Too

I entered into a year-long payment plan on a charge off with Capital One last summer. About a month later I got a Capital One Quicksilver secured card. The secured card has been open for six months. And I just paid off the payment plan early. I checked out the Capital One prequal site and I finally got some options that weren't secured cards: Quicksilver for good credit, Savor One and the platinum card. They've been marketing the Savor One to me as a preapproval for months now, but today is the first time the card was also an option on the prequal site.

I'm sitting on the offers for now, but just happy I've made a bit of a breakthrough with Capital One.

For the first time Apple Card popped up on my Credit Karma account. It only listed my chances as fair. But it was recommended. I decided to check it out anyway. For the first time I was approved, although with a $500 CL. I passed for now. I just paid off a Capital One charge off settlement, so I'm waiting for it to report the zero balance and paid off status. I wonder if going through CK made any difference. Previously I've always gone straight to Apple to check pre-approval. I've done it several times, most recently last month.

The debt was about 4300 and I settled for 2300. When I called them they offered 2600. I countered with 2000 and we settled in the middle. When I offered 2000 I offered a lump sum. Their counter included terms up to 12 months of payments.

Re: Breakthrough with Capital One

Cap One can be very forgiving and very generous.
