Close store cards for AAoA

I don't think this is how it works but I went on a mini store card spree 3 months ago...my AAOA is right at 2 years because of this. Would I benefit at all by shutting down my buckle, vs, carecredit cards?

I got removed as an AU on wife's kohl's card lastweek.

Leaving me at 5750 total CL. If I dropped the store cards I'd be about 4700 with around 8% utilization.

Thoughts?

Re: Close store cards for AAoA

You've already opened the accounts, so closing them won't affect your AAOA and will just diminish your available credit, which could affect your utilization.  My understanding is that Fico 8 uses all your accounts, regardless of status, to compute AAOA.

Re: Close store cards for AAoA

Yehh chalk that one up as a learning experience. I thought it could be beneficial to reload my total CL by getting a few new accounts knowing I was going to close creditone and drop AU on kohls. Oh well 2 years from now it won't matter Smiley Happy

If you treat those accounts well, they will help you over time.  Comenity will grow.

Just don't do what I did, and open 10 store cards.  Smiley Happy
