Hi,
I recently became proactive about my credit score and found a item on my credit reports that I was not sure about. The Collection Agency is Louisiana Recovery SVC, the original creditor Collection Services LLC. I received no initial letter or contact from either of these companies. I have not done business with these companies both are collection agencies sent A DV letter to Louisiana Recovery SVC today. I got the address to send it to off my credit reports. When I got to the post office to send it off the lady told me that Louisiana Recovery SVC does not accept certified mail only packages. So I sent the letter off like it was a package using signature service requested. I will be able to get a delivery conformation with signature by going online and printing it out. Did I mess up? What do I do? Should I just dispute this debt via CRA?
They probably do not accept CMRR deliveries because it constitutes acceptance of service or notice. Even if they didn't accept it do save the card or the returned article because it shows as an attempt of delivery on your part. Can you send it delivery confirmation that doesn't require a signature? That way you can at least have some sort of documentation that it was delivered.

+1
What I do is to clearly mark "Sent via CMRRR and First Class Mail" on the letter. Then do that, send a copy fiorst class, and a copy CMRRR. If the CMRRR gets returned for resed or just not picked up, I save it with the copy of the First Class Mail (I keep a proof of mailing for that). It may just make me feel better but my theory is it helps prove they got the letter.

They don't accept CMRRR's. That could just be their policy. Has nothing to due with if they are unwilling to validate.
I can't imagine any other reason they'd have a policy like that.

Ok so here is the deal. If you go to the post office and ask to mail a letter via certified mail to LOUISIANA RECOVERY SVC1304 BERTRAND DR STE F4 LAFAYETTE,LA 70506 They will tell you this company will not accept certified mail. The only way to get any kind of signature confirmation is to send it likes its a package. So I sent the letter off via First-Class Mail Parcel. That way I got a U.S. Postal Service Signature Confirmation Receipt. Meaning when they receive the "Package" aka my DV letter they will have to sign for it. A copy of that signature will be available for me to print online. Did I mess up? What are my options?

You'll be suprise lol.
I guess I don't understand how they can get away with this. IMHO this demonstrates a conscious effort to evade responsibilities under FDCPA. That's how I would word my complaints.
I know FTC complaints are generally useless but this is unique enough, I would file complaints with FTC, BBB, and appropriate state agencies (whatever agency does general consumer protection or debt/collections and also the licensing agency if Louisiana licenses collection agencies).
