Collection account finally falls off after 7 years. Change in score??

Has anyone had a collection account fall off of their report  (after the 7 year mark) and noticed what change resulted in their score?  I’m just curious as to what the impact of a 6 ½ year old collection account still has on our scores.

DW just got a SW alert, score up 56 points.  The only difference was that an old collection (due off in 3 months and 10 days) dropped off for some reason (and I am NOT complaining about that - or maybe I should dispte it?  Smiley Very Happy).

So certainly for us, a collection nearly 7 years old is worth a LOT of points.  And now DW and I have nearly identical EQ and TU scores (all between 776 and 804).

EX hates us, needless to say  Smiley Sad

DW and I had an old collection due to drop off in March 2008.  It was on 3 reports of out combined 6, and it suddenly dropped off this month without me doing anything - I was waiting for it to drop off.

Resulted in MAJOR score jumps

For me on EX - 49 points

For DW on EQ - 56

For DW on EX - 51

If I am not mistaken, that is an average of 52 points, range 49 to 56, for a collection that was due to drop off in March 2008.

Current scores are high 700s (EQ and TU) and mid 700s (EX, due to counting a HELOC as a CC)

That is a huge amount of points for a collection that old.  I am really surprised, but I have been saying it was big for some time.

Were these removals before the 7 year expiration or did these just fall off due to it being 7 years?

If you mean mine - it was due to fall off in about March 2008 and it fell off in about December 2007.  I have NO idea why it dropped a few months early, but it did.  First from EQ, then EX.

I can only guess that the CA was housecleaning and stopped reporting - it was all fully paid etc

one of mine was taken off necause it was 8 years old and the other was taken off by the CA as I should have never been in collections for it. (had insurance but paid it anyway)
The BIG one that is 8 years old is still on EQF (faxed a dispute this am) Ironically it is still my lowest score... maybe it to will ocme up when it is off!

I think how much of an increase(if any) depends on if you have any other collections left.

Someone reported 50+ points when their LAST collection fell off after 7 years.
