@JM761 Following the letter of the law they are required to report correct and accurate information for 7 years, or the statute of limits in the state can sometimes lower this but rarely.
The agencies that delete or make other changes are doing a favor and being nice. From a legal perspective they are not required to delete or remove anything once reported to the CBs.
As you mentioned though, there are legal law changes regarding medical debt starting in July that changes this, but only for medical debt.

Thank you for this clarification! As I mentioned in a different post - I'm taking notes and trying to learn all I can but, at the same time, it's a lot of info! I defintely appreciate the guidance

Data Points for THE BUREAUS: As stated on page one, they accept PFD. OC was Comenity, and The Bureaus transferred my call to one of their payment companies Debt Recovery Solutions. Best I could do was 90% settlement. I received payment receipt via email before getting off the phone with the promise of $0 balance Tuesday (2 business days). I was told, without asking, that deletion would occur between 30 and 60 days. Notes: The account was updating monthly and isn't scheduled for removal until 10/2025. They also take major credit cards so I transferred to visa for 1.75% cash back, so a little bonus as well as increase spend on the card to help justify CLI in a few months. I do PIF now, so it's a win.

Time to add... which CAs accept credit cards
@7774x Would probably be easier to state which ones do not accept credit cards.
I don't believe I've ever dealt with a collection agency that didn't take credit cards for either over the phone or online payments.
Did anyone ever have any luck with Advanced Collection Bureau with PFD?
OP, any idea if NAR (north american recovery) will delete?

I have no idea but if you can go back to original creditor, ask them to recall debt and pay them, collection will be removed.
See a screenshot from their website addressing it, so that's probably your best bet
If OC will not recall collection, pay it and be done with it
Update: Nar will allow the collection to be recalled and paid to the original creditor. My example was an overdrawn checking account.
