Collection suggestions???

I have 11 collections on my CR. They are all legit. Should I send a DV first and if they validate then send a PFD? Total collections are $10153

A little about them;
$338       DOFD- 8/05 (nextel)
$162       DOFD- 7/07 (home phone service)
$1462     DOFD- 5/03 (apartment, did not fulfill lease)
$80         DOFD- 4/04 (medical)
$196       DOFD 2/07 (medical)
$202       DOFD- 8/06 (home phone service)
$51         DOFD- 2/08 (medical)
$51         DOFD- 7/06 (medical)
$157       DOFD- 3/03 (verizon)
$7300     DOFD- 6/02 (Car repo)
$154       DOFD 4/06 (medical)

Any suggestions to what the best way to take care of these are?

I hear that medical collections are fairly easy to PFD, especially ones that are smaller than $500.
I have 5 of those (medical) that are less than $200.

Re: Collection suggestions???

With the utilities and such..try to contact the OC first and see if they will agree to pull out of collections..if you agree to PIF...if they tell you they no longer have the account..and you have to deal with the CA...DV them...if they validate...PFD...

Who is the Nextel collections with...I had a collection with them 12/07...with Diversified Adjustments...they are one of those CA that agree to PFD...well they denied at first...but I was going through home buy..and couldn't have any unpaid collection within a year...but as soon as they updated with the CRA as PIF....I wrote them a GW...and a couple of days later I received a deletion letter...

Always know your state's SOL before deciding to DV. Who is reporting your 7.3 repo?

Re: Collection suggestions???

For cell phones the SOL is two years I think. Wouldn't a lease be a written agreement?

Re: Collection suggestions???

Don't DV unless you are prepared to be served and/or you have the funds to PIF if they validate. A repo collection with a balance of 7.3K is nothing to sneeze at. Sending a DV to a CA on sizable collection can be dangerous...DVs PO CAs.

Re: Collection suggestions???

I would really like to PFD all accounts except for the repo. (It will take a little more time for me to take care of the repo)

All other accounts should be easy to take care of now that I'm back on my feet.

What would the difference be viewing my CR as collection paid in full vs. collection showing a balance? (If they dont agree to PFD)
