Hi! I'm new here and looking for advice.
I had some old university debt go to collections. I emailed the school only to find out they had sent emails to an old email address that I have no longer any access too as it was found to be compromised and on the dark web(yikes). I'm not sure what to do at this point. ConServe said they wouldn't PFD as it has something to do with inaccurate reporting. I've been working really hard to get my credit built back up after being young and reckless with my credit in my late teens/early 20s and had been on a really good track until this collections.
Hi, I am new here also and I have the same issue. ConServe popped up on my cr after so much hard work. I contacted the Department of Ed and they gave me the number of the student feedback helpline. The number is 1-844-651-0077. I am hoping they can help. But I would be interested in any advice with this collection that anyone could offer, as well. I haven't contacted them yet.
LOL I had this problem in 2014. I went directly to the university....accounts receivable. They were able to pull-up account even though they sold it, and I paid the 2accounts about the sum of $8k. I don't think the young cashier didn't know she wasn't suppose to do that. Sent the credit bureau the receipts and they removed the account. Got a call from conserve and they were mad asking all kind of questions.
I also had a unpaid collection with ConServe a couple of years ago. Like @Panamanian, I was able to pay the debt directly through my school.
With a bit of badgering, I convinced the bursar's office to call ConServe and ask that they stop reporting my account to the CRA's. They took it off within a couple of months.
Good luck!
I sent an email to University but they weren't much help. I may try going in person and see if I can plead my case about it and explain the situation. Thanks y'all.
Good luck! Yes, I had better luck in person. It was busy with students trying to register for school. I pressure them a little like you want this $8k or what lol
I also advise going to the university's office and being persistent about the account. It took me many calls, emails and a couple of in person visits to have them get ConServe to remove the paid collection from my credit report.
Good luck to you! I really hope you're able to get them deleted.
