Actually I think 9% is the magic number from what I have read.

Re: Credit drop disqualified me for mortgage- help please!

Thank you for the input.

I can't do much about spending on the capital one card since it should already be reported. I can get a transaction in today on the Orchard Bank card (maybe a hefty $10 lunch or something- that would put that card at 3.3% utilization (but still only 0.16% utilization overall between the 2 cards).  Orchard Bank told me they report on the 10th, so we'll see if the transaction is reported this month or not.

Good thing I'm hungry.

And I'll do a "soft pull" next week, likely of just the EQ score.

I would put a little more more on the Orchard Card, say a total of $90 so it shows as 1% utilization of your total available credit but is not over 30% of that single card.

Re: Credit drop disqualified me for mortgage- help please!

Well, after all this, my scores bounced back (and then some)!

Equifax: 637 (sep 2012) to 623 (dec 2012) to 657 (jan 2013)

Experian: 644 (sep 2012 to 621 (dec 2012) to 670 (jan 2013)

Hopefully, now its just crossing T's and dotting i's..

Thank you everyone for your help!
